Day 01: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

Arrive at Paro Airport via Druk Air, enjoying a breathtaking flight over the majestic Himalayas and stunning views of glacial peaks. As you descend into Paro Valley, catch glimpses of Paro Dzong, the National Museum, and Paro town. Upon arrival, your representative from Reality Escape “Bhutan” will welcome you and drive you to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The 55 km journey (approx. 2 hours) follows the scenic Pachu and Wangchu rivers through terraced fields, orchards, and charming villages.

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast, begin a full day of sightseeing in Thimphu:

  • Memorial Chorten – Built in 1974 by the Grand Queen Mother in memory of the Third King.

  • National Library – Home to ancient Buddhist texts and modern academic resources.

  • Handicrafts Emporium – Showcasing traditional woven fabrics, crafts, and decorative items.

  • Painting School – Known for traditional thangka painting and art.

  • Institute of Traditional Medicine – Where Bhutan’s herbal medicines are prepared.

  • Tashichhodzong – The seat of the King’s throne, government offices, and summer residence of the monastic body.

Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha

Drive to Punakha via the scenic Dochula Pass (3,050 m), offering panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas on clear days. Visit the Druk Wangyal Chortens (108 stupas) and Druk Wangyal Lhakhang at the pass. The road descends through rhododendron and magnolia forests to Punakha and Wangdue Phodrang. After lunch at the hotel, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers.

Day 04: Punakha to Trongsa

Depart for Trongsa via Wangdue Phodrang (145 km, approx. 6 hours). Cross the Pele La Pass (3,300 m) and enjoy the changing landscape as you descend. Stop at Chendebji Chorten, built in the Nepalese style in the 18th century. A spectacular view of Trongsa Dzong awaits you 16 km before reaching the town.

Day 05: Trongsa to Bumthang

In the morning, visit Trongsa Dzong and Kuenga Rabten Palace, once the winter residence of Bhutan’s second king. After lunch, drive to Bumthang (approx. 3 hours), crossing the Yotong La Pass (3,400 m). Enter one of Bhutan’s most beautiful valleys, rich in conifer forests and sacred heritage.

Day 06: Bumthang Sightseeing

Explore the spiritual heartland of Bhutan, comprising four valleys: Chumey, Choekhor, Tang, and Ura.
Highlights include:

  • Kurje Lhakhang – Site where Guru Rinpoche meditated and left his body imprint.

  • Jambay Lhakhang – Built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo.

  • Tamshing Lhakhang – Founded by Pema Lingpa, known for its sacred paintings.

  • Konchogsum Lhakhang – A peaceful, historic temple nearby.

Day 07: Bumthang to Mongar

After early breakfast, begin a long scenic drive to Mongar (196 km, approx. 8 hours). Cross Ura La and Thrumshing La Pass (3,800 m), passing through alpine forests and rhododendron groves. Descend to Kuri Zam, a low valley point by the Kurichu River, then climb toward Mongar.

Day 08: Mongar to Trashigang

After breakfast, drive to Trashigang (96 km, approx. 3.5 hours), crossing Kori La Pass (2,450 m). Pass through the village of Nagtshang, banana groves, and cornfields. Descend to Sherichhu River, and then follow the Gamri River before reaching Trashigang.

Day 09: Trashigang Sightseeing

Visit Trashigang Dzong, dramatically located on a spur above the Gamri River. Built in 1659, the fortress has served as a strategic administrative center. If time permits, take a scenic drive to Chorten Kora (50 km), an impressive stupa modeled after Nepal’s Boudhanath.

Day 10: Trashigang to Samdrup Jongkhar

After breakfast, drive to Samdrup Jongkhar (180 km, approx. 7 hours), the gateway town to eastern Bhutan. The route winds through ridges and villages like Wamrong and Riserbo, offering rural charm and scenic beauty.
Overnight in Samdrup Jongkhar.


Day 11: Samdrup Jongkhar to Guwahati

After breakfast, drive to Guwahati, the capital city of Assam in India, for your onward flight to Delhi, Kolkata, or another destination.
