Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival at Paro in Druk Air:

    The flight into Paro on Drukair, is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of the Kingdom in the Himalayas. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. You will greeted by our representative on arrival, then drive you to Thimphu, (2 hrs drive),visit Changangkha Lhakhang, the Memorial Chorten, a shrine built in the memory of the late king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, and the Zilukha nunnery at the outskirts of Thimphu.O/N in Thimphu

  • DAY 02: THIMPHU – GANGTEY GOEMPA (via Wangdue)

    In the morning we drive across the Dochu la pass at 10,000 ft, where we might view the snow-covered peaks of the eastern Himalaya (weather permitting) to Gangtey via the small town of Wangdue theroad leads to a small pass overlooking the beautiful valley of Phobjikha, which is one of the few homes of the Black Necked Cranes, which migrates here from the central Asiatic plateau in November, explore the valley and visit Gangtey Goenpa, altitude of Gangtey : 3000 m. Overnight at camp

  • DAY 03: TREK FROM GANGTEY TO GOGONA

    The trek commences today and is an opportunity for the nature enthusiast to come in close contact with the nature. The trail winds up with gradual climb through the fields to ascend the Tsele la pass at (11500 ft, 3505 m).. After lunch we descend gradually through the forests of juniper, dwarf bamboo, magnolia and rhododendrons. Evening explore around the Gogona village. Distance covered: 15 kms in about 6/7 hrs. Camp altd. 3150 m.

  • DAY 04: TREK FROM GOGONA TO KHOTOKHA

    Today we begin a long but a gradual climb to Shobju la pass at (11185 ft, 3410 m) and descend downhill through the changing vegetation to the relatively wide and temperate valley of Khotokha, the summer home for nomads of Wangdue region.

  • DAY 05: TREK FROM KHOTOKHA TO TIKKE ZAMPA, DRIVE TO PUNAKHA

    Short trek from your campsite brings you to the village of Tashi la atop a pass at (9512 ft, 2900). From here, the trail descends downhill all the way. Much of the vegetation on today’s trek is a sub-tropical and moist. The trek finishes near the Tang chu river, from where it is a short drive (20-30 mins) to your hotel near Punakha. Distance covered on trek: 12 kms in about 5 hrs. O/N at Punakha.

  • DAY 06: PUNAKHA TO PARO

    After breakfast drive towards Paro, with the stop at Punakha dzong and later hike to Chimi lakhang(temple of fertility)temple of fertility, lunch at Punakha, thank continue your drive towards Paro, O/N at Paro.

  • DAY 07: HIKE TO TIGER’S NEST

    Hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery- Tiger’s Nest, which was built in the 16th century on the face of a cliff, 3000m high and overlooking the valley of Paro. The hike is the highlight of the trip, combining nature, amazing scenery and sanctity and takes about 2 ½ to 3 hrs. Lunch will be at the cafeteria at the view point of Taktsang. After lunch if time permits visit Drukgyal Dzong “the fortress of the victory” built by Shabdrung in 1647 and was burned down in year 1951. O/N in Paro.

  • DAY 08: PARO TO YOUR DESTINATION

    Depart to the international airport.
